i've seen automatic video recognition software. the system could be used to nominate an object (say a person) and could then track that person within the video image. the immediate object was for sociological research. but there was a hope that it would be developed to automatically recognise faces in crowds. the aim was for 'security' (soccer hooligans). scarey.
